The claims made by his estranged wife Cheryl Marie Sabato included accusations of popping pills after three months in rehab. The bombshell divorce papers had leaked just days after Antonio originally filed documents with the Federal Election Commission to run for the Congressional seat.

The couple had filed divorce papers in Dec. 2016 after five years of marriage. Cheryl said in the new court documents that Antonio confessed in Feb. 2016 that he “had been abusing prescription drugs following a car accident he had while driving with his daughter.”

Then his estranged wife claimed that “Antonio may still be struggling with drugs” — and stated that she was fighting against unsupervised visits, saying that “it would not be safe to leave our son with him over extended periods of time (including overnights).”

But in the end, divorce documents showed the once-loving couple reached an agreement in Dec. 2017. They now share joint legal and physical custody of their son. Antonio got the house, agreed to pay child support, and is back to running for office — and still being outspoken about America's own drug problem!
