After enduring endless hellfire and damnation from “Today” viewers who blamed him for ANN CURRY’s unceremonious ejection, MATT LAUER’s now battling rumors that he’s feeling threatened by tall, studly newcomer, CARSON DALY!
Said an insider: “Even before Carson arrived, Matt overheard co-workers whispering that they feared a new upheaval – because he’d feel threatened by Daly.” (Not to mention his thick, black head of hair!)
“Some staffers even flatly asked him, ‘Are you okay with this?’ Determined to squelch all negative talk, Matt sat down with his ‘Today’ family members and absolutely insisted that he couldn’t be happier about Carson joining the show – even adding that if NBC’s planning to replace him down the road, he couldn’t think of a better person to take over his job!”
