Whitney Houston’s father, John Houston, died earlier this week after a long battle with diabetes and heart disease.
Spokeswoman Nancy Seltzer added that Houston was at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan at the time of his death and had been in and out of the hospital several times recently. “The entire family is greatly saddened by the loss of someone they all loved so much,” said Seltzer.
Houston’s company, John Houston Entertainment LLC, recently filed a lawsuit against Whitney for $100 million seeking compensation for obtaining a new recording contract for Whitney and also for their help in getting her marijuana charges dismissed. “You get your act together, honey, and you pay me the money that you owe me,” said John Houston in an interview before he died. “If you do that, you haven’t got a lawsuit.”
John Houston is survived by his daughter Whitney and two sons, Gary and Michael.
