MINISTER WIFE’S JAIL HELL

By ALEXANDER HITCHEN

Unable to sleep in her jail cell, Mary Winkler stares at this heart-shaped photograph of herself with the minister husband she shot dead. The couple’s beaming faces, tanned after a vacation as newlyweds, remind her what a moment of terrible madness has taken away.

The National Enquirer can reveal that the 32-year-old mother of three begged a friend at Fourth Street Church of Christ in Selmer, Tenn., to bring the photo from husband Matthew’s church office.

It is evidence of the torment Mary is now enduring over the March 22 killing.

According to sources, the sickening reality of what she has done finally struck Mary on her first night at McNairy County Jail, two miles from the home where she shot 31-year-old Matthew in the back with one fatal shotgun blast.

A source close to the jail told The National Enquirer: “Mary screamed in terror, shouting ‘My God! My God! My husband!'”
