COPS: WIFE HIRES HIT MAN TO KILL CANCER-STRICKEN HUSBAND

description

Sandra Jessee decided she couldn’t sit idly by as she and her husband spent their retirement nest egg on his cancer treatments.

She knew the medical bills would stop if her husband died – so she decided to take matters into her own hands by hiring a hit man to kill him, say authorities.

Sandra’s husband of 15 years, Jack, a 56-year-old engineer, was diagnosed with colon cancer in the spring of 1998 and underwent surgery.

“All indications were that the surgery was successful. He had a very good prognosis,” said Mike Murray, an assistant district attorney in Orange County, Calif.

But when Sandra learned that Jack’s medical insurance wasn’t going to pay for all of his expensive treatments, she enlisted the aid of her son from a previous marriage, Tom Aehlert, to help her kill him, says Murray.

“This was a woman who wasn’t working. She was dependent on her husband for support, and rather than take care of him, she murdered him,” said Murray.

“This is an absolutely heartless, cold-blooded woman.”

Murray said Tom sought out a friend, Brett Schrauben, and told him his mother would pay $50,000 to have Jack killed. Sandra paid Schrauben $5,000 as a down payment for the murder on June 24, 1998, say cops.

“The plan was for Sandra to go out and run errands and leave the garage door open so that Schrauben could enter the house, kill Jack and make it look like a burglary,” Murray divulged.
