Tori Spelling has broken her silence on her complicated love life. The actress, who split with writer husband Charlie Shanian after just a year of marriage, described the relationship as a “growing-up period.”

“I definitely did not go into it thinking, ‘He’s just a friend. We’re not in love,'” says Tori, 32. Following her split from Shanian last September, the former 90210 star is now engaged to Dean McDermott, whom she met on the set of the Lifetime TV movie Mind over Murder. McDermott, 39, is divorcing actress Mary Jo Eustace, with whom he has a son and infant daughter. Tori, whose new TV show, VH1’s So Notorious, aired on April 2, said: “I’ve always had issues with insecurity, and now I’m comfortable with myself.

“Dean sees the side of me I have with my friends — this funny, goofy, crazy, raunchy side that I never thought a boy would want.”

Tori said she wants to have a baby so her father, TV producer Aaron Spelling, can become a granddad.
