"We’re spending the whole weekend celebrating Suri!"
That’s how proud papa Tom Cruise, in an interview, described the elegant dinner party he hosted for his daughter Suri’s second birthday at the swanky Beverly Hills Hotel on April 19.
Surrounded by his family and in-laws, the big-screen superstar beamed with pride as he and his wife Katie Holmes chatted with a reporter at the hotel’s exclusive Polo Lounge.
As she held Suri, Katie bubbled: “She’s our pride and joy! We are so blessed, and are spending the weekend celebrating her life.”
And Tom later gushed to a reporter: “I’ve never been so happy in my entire life! I have the most amazing wife and children. I couldn’t ask for more.
“This is such a wonderful evening, and I am so thrilled and blessed to be with my family to celebrate the life of my beautiful little angel. She is such an amazing blessing.”
The Cruise party of 25 showed up an hour late for their 5:30 p.m. reservation, a source told The ENQUIRER.
The Cruises devoted the entire weekend to Suri. The day before, on the 18th, the family held another fete for their 2-year-old at the Scientology Celebrity Centre in Hollywood.
The Beverly Hills Hotel bash was attended by Tom’s older children, Connor and Isabel, his mother and sister, and Katie’s parents and their family.
Guests dined on appetizers of warm goat cheese salad and – Suri’s favorite — creamed corn. The main course was salmon and lobster, with Suri opting for macaroni and cheese.
After her birthday cake was served, the adorable birthday girl smiled for pictures with chocolate icing around her mouth.
“Katie held Suri for most of the night. Sometimes she’d pass her to Isabel,” said the source. “Suri sat on her dad’s lap for a while and later she was running around like any normal little girl.”
