SPLITSVILLE FOR ARNOLD & MARIA

It's OV-UH for ex Calif. Gov. ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER and his wife MARIA SHRIVER as they announce split after 25 years of marriage.

The split announcement was issued by an Arnold spokesman who said the pair were working on the future –or lack of – their relationship and would continue to raise their four children together.

"This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us," the two said in a prepared statement. "After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together."

Schwarzenegger, a Republican, finished his seven-year run as California governor in January and has been sizing up a return to action in the movies.

During Schwarzenegger's tenure as governor, Shriver and the couple's children never moved to Sacramento, preferring their secluded canyon estate in Los Angeles, a few miles from the Pacific Ocean.

Shriver, a surviving member of the Kennedy clan and daughter of the late Eunice Kennedy Shriver (JFK, Bobby and Teddy's sister), left her job at NBC News when Schwarzenegger took office.

The separation announcement comes mere months after the death of Maria's father, Peace Corps founder and former vice presidential candidate Sargent Shriver, in January.

Schwarzenegger's spokesman, refused to answer further questions.

DEVELOPING (but we hear someone's been a busy boy)…stay tuned!
