Adorable child star of Oscar winner put up for sale by depraved dad, reports.
Child star Rubina Ali, 9, one of the Mumbai slum darlings who appeared in the film was allegedly offered for sale by her father Rafiq Qureshi, who demanded $30,000, claiming his poverty stricken family "got nothing" from the film.
Rafiq’s brother, Mohiuddin, allegedly chimed in to reporters from News of the World, saying: "This is not an ordinary child. This is an Oscar child" after the story broke they were attempting to sell the lass to an alleged Arab potentate.
The alleged plan to sell Rubina was purportedly prompted by a legitimate inquiry from a very real family that wanted to adopt her.
But once the girl’s father realized there was interest, they launched a heartless money-making auction, dangling the child for the highest bidder, according to The News of the World.
Qureshi denied the attempt when queried by the UK London Times.
