WHEN Rush Limbaugh returned to the airwaves after five weeks in rehab, he didn’t come clean about his involvement in a Florida drug ring — and he never mentioned that he’s a subject in an ongoing police drug probe.

Instead, the conservative commentator came out swinging — at The ENQUIRER.

We broke the shocking story of his longtime addiction to prescription painkillers in our issue published October 2. He told listeners, “It’s quite hilarious to listen to people quote The National ENQUIRER as the world’s foremost authority, and I’m here to tell you they’re not.

“What you know, what you think you know, you don’t know. Don’t make The National ENQUIRER the authority on this story.”

We reported that Limbaugh bought tens of thousands of pills from the housekeeper at his Palm Beach mansion. The details of The ENQUIRER’s scoop were later confirmed by other top news organizations across the country. Sources say Rush’s housekeeper wasn’t the only person supplying him with narcotics – and he remains part of a drug probe in Palm Beach County, which has led to two arrests so far.

“The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible,” a law enforcement source familiar with the investigation told The ENQUIRER. “Rush may be out of rehab, but he isn’t out of the woods yet as far as cops are concerned.

“Rush has admitted his addiction to prescription drugs, but the thing to remember is this: he didn’t have a prescription.
