Peyton Manning is a huge football star as the quarterback for the Denver Broncos — and he’s cultivated one of the NFL’s most wholesome images!

But now his reputation is being rocked by newly-aired charges that Peyton is pumping himself up with illegal drugs!

The cable news channel Al-Jazerra America aired the troubling news report called The Dark Side: Secrets of the Sports Dopers — and here’s the latest fallout from the latest sports scandal!

1) Peyton has come out fighting against the documentary’s claims that he had human-growth hormones (HGH) sent to his wife to cover up his use of the banned drugs that supposedly enhance sports performance. “It absolutely never happened,” Peyton declared. “The whole thing is totally wrong. It’s such a fabrication — I’m not losing any sleep over it, that’s for sure.”

2) Peyton’s denials were also backed up by the same man who’s caught on camera talking about Peyton using the drugs. The documentary is hosted by British hurdler Liam Collins, who talked to Texas-based pharmacist Charlie Sly about claims that he had supplied banned drugs to Peyton and other major athletes. A panicked Sly released a statement before the documentary aired, calling Liam a “reputed fraudster” — and adding: “The statements on any recordings or communications that Al Jazeera plans to air are absolutely false and incorrect. To be clear, I am recanting any such statements and there is no truth to any statement of mint that Al Jazeera plans to air.”

3) Also rushing to Peyton’s defense: Dr. Dale Guyer of the Guyer Institute. Charlie served there as an intern, and the documentary has him claiming that the the Guyer Institute supplied Peyton with his performance-enhancing drugs. Dr. Guyer is an anti-aging expert, and he isn’t happy that Charlie has made claims about his practice. Dr. Guyer’s statement admits that Peyton is a former patient, but added: “I have no reason to believe these allegations are based in fact or have any truth. In fact, I can say with absolute certainty that they are not.”

4) Peyton has good reason to protect his reputation. According to Forbes.com, the quarterback leads the NFL in scoring big with lucrative endorsement deals. He makes over $12 million a year from working with companies that include DirecTV, Gatorade, Papa John’s Pizza and Nationwide.

5) Hollywood loves Peyton, and the NFL pays close attention to their superstars who hang out with questionable showbiz characters. Peyton has made several appearances on “Saturday Night Live,” and he’s also stopped by “American Idol” and the Playboy Mansion-based reality show “The Girls Next Door.” A sports insider added: “There’s been talk about Peyton looking at retiring from the NFL, and it’s no secret that he likes the idea of doing some acting work. People have been warning him for years that hanging out with showbiz types will start rumors about this kind of thing!”

6) Peyton is also an outspoken Christian who’s been married since 2010 to his wife Ashley, who’s the mother of his twins. Charlie Sly claims that both Peyton and his wife took the drugs — while Peyton is saying that any treatments at the Guyer Institute concerned his wife, and should be kept private.

7) This new scandal isn’t just a blow to Peyton. He’s part of a football dynasty. His father is Archie Manning, who spent twelve years as a quarterback for the New Orleans Saints before going on to play for the Houston Oilers and the Minnesota Vikings. His brother is New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning. Another brother, Cooper, had a promising college football career. He became a sportscaster after having to give up playing football over a spinal condition.
