David Letterman will make a rare appearance on Oprah Winfrey‘s talk show when she visits New York’s Madison Square Garden in September, Winfrey’s production company announced Wednesday.
Winfrey appeared on CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman in 2005, thus beginning the reconciliation process after a decade long fued between the hosts. Though Winfrey had appeared twice on Letterman when his show was running on NBC in early 1993, Winfrey banned the talk show host from interviewing her after she became the butt of most of his jokes on his comedic talk show. In 2003, Winfrey told Time magazine she wouldn’t appear with Letterman because she had been “completely uncomfortable” as the target of jokes.
