OBAMATHON WEB CRASH FEAR

description

Experts fear the millions expected to join the Obama Inauguration may crash the World Wide Web and cripple wireless technology.

The largest cellphone carriers, worried that the Wireless Woodstock-like gathering may disrupt the web, have asked people to limit their texting, calls and photo uploads from the DC love fest as Barack Obama takes the oath.

Lost calls, dropped images and dial-up-like texting are not unusual during major sporting events and rock concerts but the expected surge in Twitter-ing tomorrow may be unprecedented. Even major news orgs like the New York Times have asked journos to transmit hi-rez images to get online ASAP seconds after the moment.

"If some of these estimates come true, people should anticipate delays with regards to sending text messages or making phone calls or getting onto the Internet," spokesman Joe Farren of the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association warned the Twitter Generation.

"We can only bend the laws of physics so much."
