But that’s not the only sign of the threatened $20 million divorce, with The ENQUIRER getting the inside story after finding Nicole, 33, running around without a wedding ring!
“Nicole has finally had enough of Joel,” a family friend claimed. “She told him to leave the house, and Joel has complied!”
Though a rep for the fashion mogul denied any split, The ENQUIRER spied the former “Simple Life” star without her wedding ring over the past several weeks – including in photos shot April 24 in Glendale, Calif., and in the L.A. suburb of Calabasas on April 26.
The biggest sign yet of their marital woes rolled up on May 1, with movers parked outside of the couple’s new $6.7 million Beverly Hills home.
On May 5, the couple was seen having a tense meeting at a California Pizza Kitchen restaurant.
“Nicole and Joel arrived in separate cars, met for 40 minutes with an unidentified woman and then shared a frosty farewell,” said an eyewitness. “Nicole left the eatery wringing her hands, and hustled to her vehicle several steps ahead of Joel – who was still wearing his wedding ring.
“Then the two astoundingly shook hands before Nicole revved off!”
As The ENQUIRER reported, 36-year-old Joel found himself in hot water in March after former Disney cutie Hilary Duff, 27, hinted she lost her virginity to the Good Charlotte rocker.
“That sent Nicole into a tizzy,” the source told The ENQUIRER, and added that Nicole has only hung on to the marriage for the benefit of daughter Harlow, 7, and 5-year-old son Sparrow.
“They’re constantly fighting over everything – from what clothes the kids should wear to what they’re going to have for dinner.
“They were hoping the new house would be a new start, but things just seem worse!”
