Accused Sopranos cop killer junkie – not killer says lawyer.
Defense lawyer Joseph Tacopina told potential jurors that A Bronx Tale and Sopranos thesp Lillo Brancato was an addict when off-duty NYPD Officer Daniel Enchautegui was murdered.
The Bronxc barrister asked jurors if they would hold his drug abuse against the 32 year old Brancato who played Bobby DeNiro‘s son in the movie adaption of Chazz Palmenteri‘s coming of age tale.
The NYPD officer was gunned down after he rose fr4om bed to investigate a burglary in progress at his neighbor’s home.
Prosecutors charge that although Lillo was unarmed, he’s as guilty as his partner convicted triggerman, Steven Armento.
If convicted, the Sopranos thesp faces 25 years to life.
