JOHN EDWARDS STILL UNDER SCRUTINY

Disgraced two-time presidential loser JOHN EDWARDS may have evaded federal prison but he’s still in the firing line.

“The West Wing” writer and creator Aaron Sorkin has threatened to quit TV after the final season of his HBO news satire The Newsroom airs but he still has politicians on his mind – most notably The ENQUIRER’s “favorite son” – former Sen. John Edwards.

According to multiple sources Sorkin is still hard at work on the screenplay of “The Politician” – the tell-all written by former Edwards aide Andrew Young.

As The ENQUIRER reported in a series of world exclusives, Edwards was finally indicted by Feds for using Presidential campaign funds to buy a conspiracy of silence.

In 2011 Edwards was tried by Federal prosecutors in Raleigh, N.C. on six felony counts of using campaign funds to hush up his affair with mistress Rielle Hunter and his love child. Edwards was found not guilty on one count and the judge declared a mistrial on the other 5 counts.

He has since resumed his career as a cagey litigator with a high profile law firm partnered with his daughter Cate.

“This is an extraordinary story filled with motivations, decisions and consequences that would have lit Shakespeare up,” Sorkin enthused.

Sorkin is also working on an adaptation of high-stakes poker queen Molly Bloom’s memoirs.
