When Jessica Simpson got hitched to fiancé Eric Johnson, her big day was overshadowed by the antics of her pastor dad!
Sources say Joe Simpson, 56, raised eyebrows when he brought his male model “client” Jonathan Keith, 21, to Jess’ lavish July 5 nuptial weekend. The brazen pair even cavorted in the pool at the posh San Ysidro Ranch near Santa Barbara, Calif. the day before the wedding, sources say.
“Jess was secretly humiliated on what should have been the happiest weekend of her life,” said a family insider. “It was the ultimate slap in the face to her mom Tina!
“Tina was furious, but she kept her mouth shut because she didn’t want to spoil her daughter’s big day!” Jessica, 33, and Eric, 34, tied the knot in front of more than 250 guests, including the bride’s little sis, Ashlee, and her fiancé Evan Ross, actress Jessica Alba and hubby Cash Warren, and Jess’ former personal assistant CaCee Cobb and hubby, actor Donald Faison. The couple’s one-yearold son, Ace, was the ring bearer. Their daughter, Maxwell, 2, was the flower girl, and was accompanied by Ashlee’s son, Bronx, 5.
The bride glowed in a custom Carolina Herrera gown and veil as her father walked her down the aisle. He also co-officiated the ceremony with a female pastor.
“Joe figured that since he was playing such a big role in Jessica’s wedding, he could bring whoever he wanted!” added the source.
The National ENQUIRER broke the story in fall 2012 that when Joe and Tina ended their 35-year marriage, Jessica’s manager-dad shocked the family by announcing that he was gay.
Sources say an outraged Jessica warned her father not to invite any of his young studs to her wedding. But sources say Joe, who has publicly denied that he’s gay, told his daughter that if he couldn’t bring his young male “client” he wasn’t coming!
“So Jess broke down and relented.”
