X-Men cutie and boozy Oscar self-confessor J-Law has made a major faux pas – one that might land her squarely in the H8rs camp – alongside Anne Hathaway.
Vulture reports that while at the Vanity Fair Cannes Film Festival party on May 17, Lawrence, 23, made a flippant rape joke.
Seeing "Gravity" director Alfonso Cuarón in the teeming crowds at Cannes, Lawrence allegedly cried out, "I broke out my rape scream for you!" as she grabbed his shoulders, screaming, "Ahhhhh!!!" into his face, like a "crazed fan, or a woman in distress."
Now, across the Twitterverse, J-Law is being accused of trivializing the act of rape.
“It might seem like a joke to Lawrence, but rape is never an acceptable topic to joke about — especially for a star in a young adult franchise that so many young girls look up to," blogged Bustle's Maitri Mehta — among others.
It’s not the first time J-Law has put her foot in her mouth — and it probably won’t be the last.
