Jen‘s desperate plea to the one that GOT AWAY – Brad!
"Come back to me!" A tearful Jennifer Aniston made that desperate plea to the one man she just can’t get over – ex-husband Brad Pitt – and Brad is ALL ears, divulged an insider.
Jen began trying to reel in her ex after hearing the startling news that the screen idol and Angelina Jolie are planning a prolonged separation.
The 40-year-old star and 45-year-old Brad have been sending messages back and forth since early May, through mutual friends Courteney Cox and David Arquette.
And after learning Brad was in Los Angeles alone after Angelina had jetted out of town, the pretty blonde took a daring leap toward reconciliation by phoning Brad.
It was an emotional call that left both Brad and the Friends star in tears, disclosed the insider.
Then in late October, when Brad fell off his motorcycle in L.A., the tug of love became even more intense because of the startlingly different reactions of Jen and Angelina.
"When Angelina found out it was a minor mishap and Brad wasn’t hurt, she was cold-hearted," said the insider.
"She had told Brad many times before that he was risking his life riding a motorcycle, and she gave him a big ‘I told you so.’
"Angelina seemed more angry at him for being foolhardy than concerned about his health.
"But Jen was extremely compassionate – the first thing she wanted to know was if Brad was OK. She’s always worried about him when he goes tearing off on his motorcycle, but she knows how much it means to him and has always been supportive."
The reconciliation drama first began unfolding when Jen asked pal David Arquette to check if her ex was open to chatting with her on the phone.
After Brad gave the green light, Jennifer – who’s been by herself since breaking up with John Mayer in March, except for brief summer flings with Bradley Cooper and Gerard Butler – followed up with the mid-October call.
"Jen and Brad spent about 30 minutes catching up on work and family," disclosed the insider.
"Then Brad leveled with Jen – telling her things were awful between him and Angie, and that they had agreed to see if a separation caused by work would make them both happier.
"Brad’s voice cracked as he told Jen how sorry he was for hurting her, and said he hoped they could rebuild a friendship.
"That’s when she told him, ‘I never stopped caring about you. Whenever you’re ready, I’m here. Come back to me.’"
"He’s caught between a rock and a hard place. He’s got Jen waiting for a get-together, while’s he convinced Angelina that Jen’s the furthest thing from his mind.
"Brad is stringing along two women – and someone is going to wind up hurt and angry."
