Rumors swirled that CW exec producers were plotting a Gossip Girl spin-off.
But the shows creators have denied it.
The planned spin off would’ve revolved around teen beat star Taylor Momsen’s character, Jenny Humphrey, based on the original book series
Humphrey is an esteemed challenged outsider who tries to fit in when she’s shipped off to boarding school in a spin-off book series as The It Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar.
But GG exec producer Josh Schwartz squashed the rumors, insisting the TV net will not follow the author’s lead.
"Not sure how this got out there – but no plans for spin-off at this moment," Schwartz said.
"The books do have a spin-off, but we have nothing in the works right now other than making sure Season 2 gets off to a great start."
The truth is that CW is already locked into another season of Gossip Girl and with next season’s 90210 re-do, it’s just a question of how much teen angst will be profitable before it all implodes faster than Dawson’s Creek.
