FOUR TOPS LEVI STUBBS R.I.P.

description

One of the greatest voices in history, Levi Stubbs, has been silenced.

Levi, 72, died at the Detroit home he shared with his wife.  The Wayne County ME confirmed the Motown legend’s passing.

Stubbs was heard on such Four Tops hits as "Baby I Need Your Loving," "I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch), "Reach Out (I’ll Be There)".

The Four Tops signed with Motown Records way back in 1963 and charted 20 Top 40 hits over the next decade making the group legend.

Stubbs also recorded the voice for the musical film version of Little Shop of Horrors as the "bad ass mutha from outer space" – man (and woman) eating plant Audrey II.

The Four Tops were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and were bestowed with their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"These are four of the greatest people I have ever known," Berry Gordy, Motown owner said.

Only one member of the original quartet remains: Abdul "Duke" Fakir.

Adios, amigo.
