Notorious boxing promoter Don King seriously fell, smashing his head and face and will need extensive reconstructive surgery and months of rehab after a face-smashing fall in a Cleveland hotel, The ENQUIRER has exclusively learned.

Despite the family’s attempts to keep his health crisis secret, King, 83, remains in the Cleveland Clinic hospital recovering after a face-altering smash-up in a local hotel October 31.“His injuries are very serious,” a family insider said.

Don, 83, landed in the Cleveland Clinic Oct. 31, during a trip he had been scheduled to attend the funeral of newspaper publisher a former Don King Productions vice president, Constance Harper, a childhood pal who friends believe may have taken the rap for him in a 1985 New York tax evasion case.  The frail Don is now said to be facing his own mortality after the death of Harper and two other “nearest and dearest”. King’s beloved wife of 50 years, Henrietta, died of cancer in 2010 and his longtime pal Rev. William “Bill” Crockett passed in 2012.

This latest blow to his head isn’t the first time Don suffered severe head trauma. In 1959 when he was a Cleveland, Ohio, numbers runner, Don was shot in the head. Fragments from the shooting remain embedded in his skull. In 2000, when King was flying from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, sudden turbulence tore him from his seat, slamming into the jet’s ceiling.

“Don’s trying to make peace with as many people as he can,” the insider divulged. “He’s a different ‘Don King’ than the one the world thinks it knows.
