Superstar Tom Cruise barely escaped being murdered by one of the world’s most evil serial killers, secret police files kept hidden for decades reveal.
The “Mission: Impossible” star was preyed upon by evil monster Colin Ireland – dubbed the “Gay Slayer” for targeting homosexuals – after the pair met one night at the killer’s favorite haunt in West London, a top British law enforcement source has revealed to The National ENQUIRER.
Cruise, 52, was said to be targeted by cold-eyed Ireland after turning up at the bar by himself.
At the time, Ireland had already strangled five men to death after picking them up at the same venue during a crazed three-month killing spree.
Detectives at Scotland Yard opened a hush-hush case file on Cruise after Ireland was convicted of the murders and jailed for life, the informant told The ENQUIRER.
In written statements, Ireland claimed he’d seen Cruise – then 31 and happily married to actress Nicole Kidman – at the bar in 1993 and approached him with the intention of killing him, said the source.
But the Hollywood heartthrob left the bar suddenly and was able to escape his clutches, according to Ireland.
Ireland, also known as “Jack the Gripper,” was said to have made a New Year’s resolution in 1993 to become a serial killer.
Posing as a homosexual, Ireland viciously tortured his victims, after convincing them all to take him to their homes, where he strangled them after lurid sex games.
