AFTER blindsiding TOM CRUISE with a divorce, KATIE HOLMES is now being urged by friends to “tell all” about their five-year marriage!
The nation’s top TV names are battling to land the 33-year-old actress for a sit-down interview, sources say, and close pals of Katie tell The ENQUIRER that she could rip the lid off a string of shocking secrets about her superstar ex.
Now raising the couple’s daughter Suri as a single mom, Katie may finally open up about Tom, his obsession with Scientology and the gay lies that haunted their marriage, sources say.
The “Dawson’s Creek” beauty may also very well reveal that as their marriage crumbled, Katie had therapy to help her deal with the split, insiders say.
“Pals are begging Katie to talk about her life with Tom,” a longtime friend of Katie’s from her hometown of Toledo, Ohio, told The ENQUIRER.
Some of the things that went on while Katie lived under Tom’s thumb will shock the world. According to one of Katie’s pals, Tom was a virtual “control freak.”
“I don’t think there was a moment when Katie didn’t feel watched,” said the friend. “I think Katie knows Tom loved her in his own way, but in my opinion, his love came with a very heavy price – living a life of confinement on his terms.”
In her interview, Katie might reveal Scientology constantly shadowed her life with the 50-year-old “Mission: Impossible” star, insiders say.
During the final year of the marriage, Katie was so depressed that close friends called her father and told him she needed help, said the source.
“Katie’s father Martin wanted her to see a therapist, but they chose a fellow Scientologist to counsel her,” said her pal.
“Katie called her dad crying hysterically and saying she wanted out of the marriage.”
The lack of intimacy in the couple’s marriage also could be a hot interview topic, said another source.
“Katie can go so far as to reveal that intimate moments became few and far between,” said the source.
Interviewers would certainly push Katie to divulge details about the couple’s final split – and she’s got a blockbuster story to tell, said her pal.
When the “Top Gun” star was filming his new movie “Oblivion” on location in Iceland, “Katie telephoned Tom and said she was filing for divorce and there was NOTHING he or his Scientologists could do,” said the source.
After that, Katie basically communicated with Tom only through their lawyers, although he continued to bombard her with calls and texts, said the source.
Katie’s interview might also address the gay lies that have haunted Tom for years, said an insider.
“It always bothered Katie that Tom, for all his wealth and control, couldn’t silence the false chatter about his sexuality,” said the insider. “Of course, Katie has always known that Tom is 100 percent straight.”
Andrew Morton, best-selling author of the book “Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography,” told The ENQUIRER that he certainly believes Katie will be asked “to discuss reports they had separate bedrooms, and whether their relationship was a business deal as opposed to a love affair. It would also be interesting to hear Katie confess the final straw that pushed her to leave Tom.”
Said Morton: “There’s a lot of curiosity surrounding what it was about Tom that attracted Katie during the courtship and what sent her running for the hills after five years. ”
Katie’s pal added: “We all want to know how much Katie was in love with Tom when they wed – or was it deep infatuation? Don’t forget she’d had a schoolgirl crush on him. Then, how long did it take for her to fall out of love with him? Did he persuade Katie to stay away from her old friends and cut down on visits to see her family in Ohio? There are so many interesting things for her to talk about and millions of women would lap up all the details.
“Women are fascinated by the thought that Katie was married to one of the world’s biggest superstars who just happens to be a poster boy for Scientology. And, of course, we all want to know what was the final straw that killed the marriage.”
Meanwhile, top TV names are scrambling to land Katie for a high-profile chat, if she decides to talk.
“A major sit-down with Katie would be the TV interview of the year!” a top TV industry insider based in New York told The ENQUIRER.
“Barbara Walters and Diane Sawyer at ABC, Matt Lauer at NBC, would be desperate to land Katie. She’s TV’s biggest ‘get’ right now.”
