Disgraced pol JOHN EDWARDS’ mistress Rielle Hunter is caught up in a shocking sex-and-drug scandal.
Rielle – a key witness in the former presidential candidate’s criminal trial – was involved in coked-up threesomes during the 1980s, charge sources.
And with the trial now turning the national spotlight on her, Rielle’s partying days are coming back to haunt her.
“She had no idea details of her past sex life and drug use would be splashed across TV newscasts, newspapers and the Internet,” a close source told The ENQUIRER.
Her old friend Bret Easton Ellis – the acclaimed author of “Less Than Zero” and “American Psycho” – added fuel to the fire by tweeting: “Somewhere in the late 1980s, I almost found myself in a coked-up threesome with Rielle Hunter in my condo.”
Though Hunter’s representative denies the incident, others confirm her sin-sational lifestyle.
“Sixteen Candles” star and former Brat Packer Molly Ringwald substantiated Ellis’ claim by chiming in: “I think I know who the 3rd was…”
And a pal who partied with Rielle – then known as Lisa Jo Druck – says that cocaine-fueled sex parties were “definitely part of her scene in her youth.”
After moving to Hollywood in the early 1990s, Rielle continued partying with a fast crowd of celebrities. She even attended a 2004 Halloween party hosted by Hollywood badboy Kiefer Sutherland.
“Her reputation was already notorious,” said the source.
“She was sleeping with a married producer who was frightened to death she was pregnant with his child. It was a false alarm, but just a few years later, she had John Edwards’ illegitimate child.
“If you knew Rielle, you wouldn’t have been shocked.”
