Disgraced Senator John Edwards confirms NATIONAL ENQUIRER’s investigative report!
The ENQUIRER first broke the news a month ago that Edwards was being eyed by a federal probe that led to a closed door grand jury investigation.
At question is possible misuse of campaign funds to buy the silence of the disgraced 2-time Presidential candidate’s mistress Rielle Hunter (see in-depth previous reportage below). She was paid more than $100,000 to produce campaign videos for Edward’s campaign. It is against federal law to use funds earmarked for a campaign for personal use.
“I am confident that no funds from my campaign were used improperly,” Edwards said today to the Charlotte Observer, confirming the ENQUIRER grand jury investigation.
“However, I know that it is the role of government to ensure that this is true. We have made available to the United States both the people and the information necessary to help them get the issue resolved efficiently and in a timely matter. We appreciate the diligence and professionalism of those involved and look forward to a conclusion.”
Edwards then refused to comment further.
Open Secrets, a campaign watchdog group, responded to the former Senator’s statement, “John Edwards is a leader in misleading the public.”
