DIETING WITH THE STARS

Who’s fighting the flab & who’s stick-thin on Dancing?!

There’s a behind-the-scenes battle raging on the DWTS – not only are the competitors vying for the top prize, they’re fighting to keep their weight in check!

While NICOLE SCHERZINGER, PAMELA ANDRESON and JAKE PAVELKA are desperately trying to keep off extra pounds – professional hoofer EDYTA SLIWINSKA is struggling to keep them ON!

"The stars practice an incredibly grueling eight hours a day at least five days a week – so it’s a constant struggle for them to get enough rest and eat well-balanced meals throughout the day," an insider told The ENQUIRER.

Pussycat Doll Nicole, 31, recently complained: "I’m the only person ever to gain weight on the show!"

The 5-foot-5 beauty – whose weight usually fluctuates between 115 and 125 pounds – has scaled back on carbs such as bread and rice, cut salt and dairy from her diet and avoids eating past 7 p.m., says the insider. She’s also eating several smaller meals a day instead of three larger ones.

At 5-foot-3, 42-year-old former  Pamela’s weight has yo-yoed through the years – from 110 to 130 pounds – but the vegetarian, who has hepatitis C, got into superb shape for the competition.

"Pam’s veggie diet has given her a leg up," maintained the insider. "But Pam loves to go out on the town drinking. She loves champagne and white wine. There are a lot of extra calories in alcohol, and she’s tempted to eat junk food after a fun-filled night of partying.

"If she finds her weight creeping up, Pam adds supplemental workouts, alternating four times a week Pilates sessions with cardio workouts such as jogging, and strength toning exercises such as squats and leg lunges."

Edyta Sliwinska, 28, has the opposite problem – she seems to be wasting away! Her weight has slipped to 108 pounds this season – too little for her 5-foot-6 frame.

"She admits to usually consuming only 1,500 calories a day, eating foods such as oatmeal with berries, salads and boiled chicken breast."

The Polish beauty, who once said she can be obsessive about working out, also maintains her brutal off-season workout routine, even while competing.

"Even with 6 to 8 hour rehearsals five May 3, 2010 o NE 27days a week, Edyta still forces herself to squeeze in 25 to 40 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength exercises three times a week," revealed the insider .BUTut it’s not just the women who are having weight issues.

"Bachelor" Jake Pavelka loves chowing down on barbecued ribs after being introduced to  calorie-laden goodies by his down-home Florida fiancee Vienna Girardi.

"Jake is hungry all the time from the intense dancing routine, and he goes on food binges – eating barbecue and carb-heavy pasta and pizza," said the insider.

"When Jake feels his belly starting to bulge, he fights back by cutting his serving portions in half and replacing big meals with a protein shake of uncooked oatmeal, peanut butter, protein powder and water."
