Dexter star JENNIFER CARPENTER and former cast mate JONNY LEE MILLER are becoming too close for comfort – and their friendship threatens to take a toll on HIS marriage!
Insiders say that Jennifer has been spending a lot of time with Jonny – Angelina Jolie’s ex-husband – since she split last year from actor Michael C. Hall, who plays Dexter.
“Jennifer was an emotional wreck after her split from Michael, and Jonny has been her support system,” an insider told The ENQUIRER.
“Dexter,” now in its sixth critically acclaimed season on Showtime, features Michael, 40, as a Miami police blood splatter expert who’s also a serial killer. Jennifer, 31, plays his sister, cop Debra Morgan. The two eloped on New Year’s Eve 2008, but separated and filed for divorce late last year.
British-born Jonny was Angelina’s first husband. They met while filming the 1995 drama “Hackers” and wed the following year with Angie wearing black leather pants and a white T-shirt with Jonny’s name scrawled on the back in her blood. The couple, however, split after just 18 months but remain friends.
Jonny joined the “Dexter” cast for Season 5 when he played evil motivational speaker Jordan Chase, who meets his end at the hands of TV’s favorite serial killer.
He and Jennifer became good friends and jogging partners. When Jennifer and Michael split, Jonny was a shoulder to cry on.
“Recently, Jonny has been in the habit of regularly phoning and texting Jennifer and spending more time with her,” added the insider.
“Jonny’s wife Michele was OK with the friendship for a while, but pals think lately she worries that they’ve become too close.
“Michele wants him to pay more attention to her and less to Jennifer.”
Jonny promised he’d correct the situation because he deeply loves his wife, the insider added. Michael C. Hall wondered how appropriate it was for a married man to be in such a close relationship with his co-star ex Jennifer.
“Jonny went on the defensive, assuring Michael there was nothing to worry about,” explained the insider.
“The two are on good terms now, but I think there were a lot of bad feelings at first.”
