Hush-hush secrets about America’s favorite TV serial killer!

The Showtime TV series Dexter is a huge hit, and millions of fans eagerly tune in to follow the adventures of Dexter Morgan – a blood-spatter analyst for the Miami Police Department who is secretly a serial killer. Here’s a look at the stars of the show and some fascinating facts about them uncovered by The ENQUIRER.

Michael C. Hal
l (Dexter) – His character learns as a child that he’s a born killer, but heeds the advice of his adoptive dad, an ex-cop, to slay only bad guys. In real life, Hall didn’t have a father to mentor him. The actor’s dad died of cancer when he was 11, but his mother did a great job raising him, Hall says.   "She communicated to me when my father died that she was not going to be some pitiful, victimized widow and I was not going to be a pitiful, victimized, fatherless son," revealed Hall, 38.

Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter’s sister, Police Officer Debra Morgan) – Jennifer, 29, captured Michael C. Hall’s heart when she married her co-star last New Year’s Eve. But she says her big wish is for her cop character to capture Dexter as an eventual series finale.

Julie Benz
(Dexter’s love Rita Bennett) – Julie isn’t just a star on TV, she’s a star in the toy shops. Six action figures of Julie are big sellers. They show her as Darla the vampire, the role she played on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

James Remar (Dexter’s dad Harry Morgan) – The veteran 55-year-old actor believes in ghosts because he’s been seeing them ever since he was a kid. "When I was about 11, there was this electronic sound and a being crossed from one side of the room to the other. I have had ghostly experiences throughout my life," said Remar.

Lauren Velez (Lt. Maria LaGuerta) – If Lauren, 44, ever quits the show, producers have an easy solution. Her identical twin sister Loraine is also an accomplished actress.

David Zayas
(Det. Angel Batista) – Playing a cop comes easy for Zayas. He was a New York City police officer for 15 years. Zayas said he was most affected by people who tried to kill themselves. "The most bizarre thing I found were the people who tried to commit suicide and not succeeding…the journey that led to it I always found the weirdest."

C.S. Lee (forensic scientist Vince Masuka) – Although he was born in South Korea, Lee’s family moved to the U.S. when he was an infant. So he doesn’t have an Asian accent, and don’t ever ask him to do one for any role. "Asian accents are hard to do," said Lee, 37.
