LAATEWST! TWO VICTIS DEAD! Virginia Tech shut down — cop shot in aftermath of ruling about 2007 shooting massacre!

Virginia Tech said on its website the campus is on lockdown after a police officer was shot on campus.

Witnesses to the shooting in the parking lot of Cassell Coliseum reported the suspect fled on foot to a large nearby parking lot, where another victim was found. The suspect remains at large and officials warned students to stay indoors and take shelter.

The suspected shooter is described as a white man wearing grey sweats, a grey hat with a neon green brim and a maroon hooded sweatshirt with a backpack, according to the university's website.

The shooting came the same day as Virginia Tech, which has an enrollment of about 30,000, was appealing a $55,000 fine by the U.S. Education Department in connection with the university's response to the 2007 massacre in which 23-year-old Virginia Tech student Cho Seung-Hui killed 32 people, then himself.
