CAMPBELL BROWN LEAVES NBC FOR CNN

description

Campbell Brown has been hired by CNN, just one day after she announced she would be leaving her hosting job on NBC’s Weekend Today.

Brown, 39, a former White House reporter, has been co-hosting Weekend Today with Lester Holt since 2003. She was also a correspondent and fill-in anchor on NBC’s Nightly News.

“We wish Campbell the best. We’ll have an announcement on her replacement in the coming months,” an NBC News spokeswoman said. Several different anchors will be filling in over that time. Brown had been considered as a potential replacement for Katie Couric for the Today show post, but the job went to Meredith Vieira instead.

CNN did not say what Brown’s position would be at the network but there has been speculation about a primetime shift, perhaps replacing Paula Zahn due to low ratings.
