BRAD PITT is in secret torment over the overdose death of a failed actor who was once his best bud, sources have told The National ENQUIRER.
The “Fury” hunk’s former roommate Nicholas Kallsen, 48, was found dead in Thailand in mid-April.
While Brad, 51, has not commented on his passing, friends said he remains haunted over failing to help his old pal.
“I should have done more,” a grief-stricken Brad lamented when he learned of Nick’s tragic passing, according to a source.
“I could have done more when I had the chance.”
Brad and Nick co-starred in the FOX drama series “Glory Days” in 1990.
The show aired during the sleepy summer season, and lasted only six episodes.
The two hunks were living together when both fixed their sights on the same role – that of ill-fated hitchhiker J.D. in the now classic 1991 film, “Thelma & Louise.”
But on the day of the audition, Nick overslept and missed his chance for a solid start in the industry.
In the meantime, Brad nailed the opportunity and landed his first big role, going on to become a screen legend.
Nick never regained his Hollywood footing and developed a drug habit.
His last acting credit was in the 1993 movie, “The Seventh Coin.”
He also appeared in the 1989 film, “Say Anything,” and starred in several Levi’s ads.
Michael Dorrian, owner of famed Dorrian’s Red Hand in Manhattan, announced Nick’s death on Facebook.
Back in the late ’80s, the bar was the destination for kids of the city’s upper crust, including the notorious “Preppy Killer,” Robert Chambers. Michael posted on Facebook: “R.I.P. My old friend. Nick Kallsen. Sadly passed away earlier this month. Will always remember the good times. A big part of my past has gone and breaks my heart.”
A classmate of Nick’s at the prestigious Browning School in New York City also wrote: “Poor Nick! He was so sweet. Our own (Upper East Side) James Dean with that great old bike of his. I am so saddened to hear this. I am sorry.”
Brad’s dark new secret couldn’t have been revealed at a worse time for his marriage.
