BILLY JOEL & CHRISTIE BRINKLEY DAUGHTER SUICIDE ATTEMPT

description

Alexa Ray Joel, the 23-year-old singer/songwriter daughter of Christie Brinkley and Billy Joel was hospitalized Saturday for an overdose of pills, The ENQUIRER has learned.

RadarOnline.com reports a 911 call came in from Alexa’s Bethune Street apartment in Greenwich Village  at 12:19 pm.

A female caller told the dispatcher she had "taken eight pills."

Paramedics responded and found her having difficulty breathing.

Alexa has tried to get out from under the turbulent lives of her superstar parents yet supported her mother through her nasty divorce from cheating hubby, the  Lolita lovin’ Peter Cook.

More recently Alexa endured her father’s divorce from Katie Lee Joel, 25, after a series of investigative Enquirer reports into her alleged cheating.

After dropping out of  NYU, Alexa launched a performing career and was skedded to perform twice in Manhattan on Thursday – at J&R Music World and the New York Stock Exchange tree lighting.

Alexa was rushed to New York’s St. Vincent’s Hospital in Greenwich Village where a NYPD source divulged she is now "conscious",  adding that the unidentified woman who called 911 said the woman had taken “too many sleeping pills.”

The NYPD source told The ENQUIRER that police investigators are now reviewing the 911 call tape  to determine exactly who placed the emergency call.

According to the source, “There was an indication the call came from Alexa’s roommate, but it could have been made by Alexa herself.  The caller said the victim had taken “pills” and that they “want to die.”

Investigators at the NYPD’s Sixth Precinct on Tenth Street in the Village are saying the suspected drug overdose may have been part of an attempted suicide, according to the source.

Billy’s publicist Claire Mercuri said in a statement: “Alexa IS stable. Her doctors are assessing her needs and that’s all we can say this moment.”

“She is going to be fine,” dad Billy Joel said late Saturday night. DEVELOPING STORY
