MOVE over, Honey Boo Boo …yo' mama wants to steal the spotlight!
“Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” matriarch Mama June has been losing weight – a LOT of it – and she thinks she’s ready to make it big in Hollywood, sources tell The ENQUIRER.
June Shannon – mom to TLC’s breakout star, 7-year-old Alana Thompson – showed off her leaner figure at the GLAAD Media Awards in New York City on March 16. Once tipping the scales at 365 pounds, the 33-year-old has dropped 115 of them and clearly enjoyed being the center of attention.
“JUNE LOVES THE TASTE of fame she’s getting, and she loves the idea she can make her dreams come true,” a friend told The ENQUIRER. “She’s lived vicariously through Alana’s beauty pageants and figures this is her time to shine.”
“Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” which follows Mama June, Alana and the rest of their wacky redneck clan in rural Georgia, has been a ratings bonanza for TLC. Thanks to the show’s success, June has already inked a two-book publishing deal to write a family biography and a cookbook.
“June says she’s looking better and feeling more confident than she ever has in her life,” the friend continued. “She put out feelers to compete on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ this season, and she’s been pitching a spinoff reality show where she ditches Georgia and moves to Hollywood – like a real-life Beverly Hillbilly.
“She even believes she could be an actress. She sees plus-size gals like Melissa McCarthy becoming big stars and figures, ‘Why not me?’”
But June’s unsophisticated ways may keep her off the A-list, says the friend.
“This is a woman who feeds her family road kill for dinner. I don’t know how she would go over at a ritzy restaurant like Spago.”
