Hollywood’s hottest young stars are tussling over who will land the coveted role of country legend Dolly Parton on the big screen! The “Nine to Five” singer, 68, recently revealed that she’s writing a movie version of her life story, and a source says Tinseltown’s elite are already scrambling for the plum acting gig.

“Dolly’s script isn’t even finished yet, but it’s all the buzz in Hollywood,” said an insider with knowledge of the project. “Her life story – from a dirt-poor beginning in the backwoods of Tennessee to a worldwide icon at the top of the music charts – is catnip for actresses.”

Dolly’s goddaughter Miley Cyrus, singer/actress Jessica Simpson, “Gossip Girl” beauty Blake Lively, Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence and “Nashville” star Hayden Panettiere have thrown their hats in the ring, said the source.

“Agents and managers are inundating Dolly with audition tapes,” added the source. “But it’s Jessica and Miley who have emerged as top picks. Both are actresses and singers, like Dolly, and they also have deep country and Southern roots.”

“The Dukes of Hazzard” hottie Jessica has already sent Dolly a series of heartfelt notes, describing how she grew up singing Dolly’s songs and dreaming of a career like hers, said the source.

“Jessica also confessed that she’s been searching for just the right project to relaunch her acting career,” said the source.

Meanwhile, Miley has fired off videos of her singing some of Dolly’s biggest hits, including “Here You Come Again,” “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You,” said the source.

But the controversial “Wrecking Ball” twerker, 21, will need to make amends before winning her idol’s approval.

As The ENQUIRER has reported, there’s bad blood between the two because “Steel Magnolias” star Dolly believes Miley taps their connection only when it’s convenient.

“Dolly is beloved showbiz royalty,” added the source. “Any actress would be honored to bring her story to life. There’s definitely going to be a fight down to the wire.”
