Major League Baseball could possibly  ban Yankees slugger ALEX RODRIGUEZ for life if they find he participated in underground poker games.

Gambling is a big “no-no” in the sport.

Remember Peter Rose aka “Charlie Hustle”? The Cincinnati Reds great was booted from the sport for betting and despite Hall of Fame stats, the disgraced Rose is not allowed anywhere near Cooperstown.

Now, MLB is taking "very seriously" allegations that A-Rod, 36, participated in illegal, underground poker games, one of which reportedly turned violent.  Initially he could be suspended but possibly banned for life if found to be guilty of illegal gambling.

"We take this very seriously and have been investigating this matter since the initial allegation," MLB said in a statement. "As part of the investigation, the commissioner's office will interview Mr. Rodriguez."

Meanwhile,RadarOnline.com reports Spider-Man star and underground card shark Tobey Maguire, 36, may also be asked to provide evidence to Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig.
