Barbra Streisand is
shedding the pounds,
but saving the pennies,
by going on a Jenny
Craig diet. The 63-year-old
songstress may be worth an estimated
$550 million but she's
not seeking out an expensive
celebrity trainer to get trim.
According to published reports,
she has asked her
actor-husband James Brolin, 65,
to join her on the money-conscious
meal plan that costs
$15 a day.
The National Enquirer revealed
in August last year that
the singer who is 5ft 5ins had
swelled from 145 to 175 lbs in six
months. We then revealed she
banned her favorite foods, including
brownies, ice cream
and cupcakes, from her kitchen
and hoped to get below the
145 lbs she weighed in 2004.
But speaking to Diane Sawyer
on Primetime Live in September,
she said: "I've been eating
like a pig." A rep for Jenny Craig
said they could neither confirm
nor deny providing meals for
Barbra. The singer's spokesman
had no comment.
The most famous Jenny Craig
dieter is Kirstie Alley, who at
her heaviest was 219 lbs. After
losing 50 lbs in a year, she now
says: "I have a nice appreciation
of my body again."
