Two sisters were left disgusted and upset at a recent Texas Tech vs. Michigan State NCAA Final Four basketball game. A Texas fan was chanting “Larry Nassar! Larry Nassar” in response to MSU students’ cheers of “Go, Green! Go, White!” as the Mahon sisters were walking by, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Kate Mahon, who is a victim of Nassar’s, told the paper she immediately put her arm around her younger sister to comfort her. “I looked at my sister, and … she was like, ‘I almost just punched him in the face,’ and then she started crying. … She was like, ‘I can’t believe he just said that,’” Mahon said.

Nassar, who sexually abused hundreds of young girls and women during his two decades as the sports medicine doctor at MSU, pleaded guilty to child pornography and sexual assault. He was sentenced to up to 235 years.

Said Mahon, who gave a public victim impact statement in 2017, of the heckler using Nassar’s name as a weapon: “In a competitive environment, essentially, it’s a fight. So … you bring up things that you know are going to hurt.”

“There’s lines you should know you cannot cross; you cannot go there,” she continued to the Detroit Free Press. “Sexual assault and rape should be in that category, and it’s upsetting that it’s not in that category.”
