Police in Tennessee say a man who crashed his SUV into a dental office early Wednesday was likely experiencing a medical emergency at the time.

The Murfreesboro Police Department said officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the crash at Rivers Dental Care on South Church Street in Murfreesboro shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Photos shared by the police department show the SUV resting at the corner of the brick building. The vehicle’s front end shows significant damage, and a pile of bricks ripped from the building’s facade are scattered along the sidewalk.

Police said witnesses reported seeing that the driver was “unresponsive” as he crossed South Church Street from Innsbrooke Boulevard and struck the building. Police said the man is believed to have “passed out” before the crash.

The driver was transported to the hospital, but police did not share details about his condition. Police said city Building and Codes personnel were called to assess the building’s integrity.
