A North Carolina handyman finally plead guilty to the 2015 murder and mutilation of a pregnant “Food Network Star” contestant and her husband!

Robert Jason Owens admitted in court he was responsible for the deaths of Cristie Schoen Codd, her husband, J.T. Codd and their unborn baby.

Owens initially claimed he “accidentally” ran over the couple when they were assisting him to get his truck out of a ditch.

Buncombe County prosecutors said that Owens was in the process of getting rid of the victims’ bodies when police arrested him in 2015.

Codd appeared on season eight of “Food Network Star” and had several parts in TV shows while her husband worked behind the scenes in both television and movies.

Owens worked for the couple at their North Carolina home, and killed them while still employed by them!

He said he used a chainsaw to mutilate the family and burned their remains in a wooden stove on his own property — while selling off some of their belongings to stage the incident as a robbery.

“Because there are no surviving witnesses and Jason Owens had exclusive control of the crime scene for several days, and he had nearly completed the gruesome project of cremating his victims’ remains, we will never know many of the facts surrounding the Codds’ deaths,” said Buncombe County DA Todd Williams.

“I want you to know that I am sincerely sorry for the loss of your loved ones and the pain and suffering it’s caused you,” said Owens in the courtroom to the victims’ families in attendance. “I’m grateful for you for the mercy you have left with this court to show me. I am truly sorry.”

The motive for the murders is still unclear.

Owens was sentenced to 60 years in prison on two felony counts of first-degree murder — but avoided the death penalty by accepting a plea deal.
