After getting 35 years in the slammer for leaking classified docs, PFC. BRADLEY MANNING pleads for sex change op.
CNN reported that Manning, said in a statement read on NBC's "Today" show that hel will seek hormone therapy to live as a female named Chelsea.
"As I transition into this next phase of my life, I want everyone to know the real me," Manning said in the statement.
"I am Chelsea Manning. I am a female. Given the way that I feel, and have felt since childhood, I want to begin hormone therapy as soon as possible. I hope that you will support me in this transition."
A widely circulated picture released by the military during his trial showed Manning in a blonde wig looking very trans.
Manning said during his sentencing that that at the time he decided to leak 750,000 pages of classified docs to WikiLeaks, he was "dealing with a lot of issues" – an apparent reference to his gender identity crisis which a defense Army shrink backed up in court.
