After 30 years, rockers R.E.M. calls it quits.

On the band’s website, in  an annoucement posted Wednesday, R.E.M. said that they have all "decided to call it a day as a band."

The "End of the World" hitmaking  trio of  Michael Stipe, Peter Buck and Mike Mills wrote, "We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and or astonishment at all we have accomplished.

“To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening."

Mills added, “We made this decision together, amicably and with each other's best interests at heart. The time just feels right."

REM formed back in 1980, in Athens, Georgia.Notable LPs include 1986 Lifes Rich Pageant and 1991's Out of Time. R.E.M’s biggest single remains "Losing My Religion".

Stipe wrote, "All things must end, and we wanted to do it right, to do it our way."

POP FYI: R.E.M. stands for rapid eye movement which occurs when you dream.
