Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin‘s “cohosting” dynamic on Today is anything but equal despite how they pose as two peas in a pod, insiders say.

“Craig thought they were going to be real partners, that they were in this together,” a network insider tells The National ENQUIRER. “But it didn’t take long for him to realize that working with Savannah isn’t an equal marriage — it’s a monarchy.”

While early promotions hyped the dynamic duo as a team, sources say Savannah has made it clear that she’s the boss.

“Savannah speaks first. Savannah picks the stories she wants to do. Savannah chooses the interviews she wants to conduct. Simply put, it is the Savannah show,” the insider continues. “Craig’s job is to smile, nod and not step on her moment.”

Now, whispers are growing inside 30 Rock that Craig’s frustration is mounting.

“It’s not about ego,” says a colleague. “It’s about respect. He’s a pro, but no one wants to feel like a prop. It won’t be long before viewers notice subtle signs we all see in the control room: longer pauses, clipped transitions and fewer solo tosses to Craig.”

As for Savannah? Unbothered. Unshaken. And unapologetically in charge.
