The FBI has allegedly discovered emails on the laptop of disgraced politician Anthony Weiner — and they’re not, as once believed, mere duplicates of previously-discovered exchanges from Hillary Clinton’s private server.

What remains ambiguous is the content of the email exchanges. It has yet to be confirmed if the newly discovered emails have any relation to Hillary’s previous email scandal.

CBS News reported that the found emails “are not duplicates of emails found on Secretary Clinton’s private server.” This means the exchanges may or may not be pertinent to Hillary’s larger scandal of allegedly mishandling classified information through her private email server.

FBI director James Comey announced last Friday that the bureau would moving forward in investigating newly found emails connected to Hillary’s private server. The emails were discovered on Weiner’s computer as the FBI investigated the disgraced politician for his sexually explicit exchanges with a teenager.

The lawyer for Huma Abedin, the longtime very close aide to Hillary and estranged wife to Weiner, insisted that her client had no prior knowledge of her boss’ emails existing on her husband’s computer.

“She only learned for the first time on Friday, from press reports, of the possibility that a laptop belonging to Mr. Weiner could contain emails of hers,” attorney Karen Dunn said in a statement. “While the FBI has not contacted us about this, Ms. Abedin will continue to be, as she always has been, forthcoming and cooperative.”

The bureau recently obtained a warrant to sift through 650,000 emails on Weiner’s computer — and while the investigation heightens, the Wall Street Journal reported that, in a separate case, the FBI was having an “internal battle” on how to handle a probe into the Clinton Foundation during the 2016 election season.
