Nicole Lovell would be alive today if school authorities had believed her friend! That's the shocking claim by Kari Cook, also 13, after
Nicole's broken body was found in a remote area of North Carolina — with a pair of college freshmen now charged in her death! "I was really scared," Kari told the Washington Post, referring to how she learned that her friend (pictured) had begun a relationship with an older man that she met online.

Kari claimed that she told Mark Haynie — the Resource Officer at Blacksburg Middle School — that she believed Nicole was dating a man in his 20s that the doomed girl had met on Facebook. Kari also noted that the name being used online by the older man was not Eisenhauer. Haynie reportedly told Kari that he would talk to Nicole about the relationship, but Kari said no action was taken.

Nicole was a sickly girl with scars from liver transplant operations, but authorities believe that she was seduced online — and then in real life — by 18-year-old Virginia Tech track star David Eisenhauer. Cops had initially arrested Eisenhauer when her disappearance was still a missing persons case. Her body was found while he was still in custody.

Then, in a shocking twist, police arrested 19-year-old Natalie Keepers — a classmate of Eisenhauer's — for helping to plan Nicole's death! Nicole disappeared from her home on the night of Jan. 27 after she blocked her bedroom door with a dresser. Her bedroom window was left open after she apparently sneaked out with her favorite "Minions" blanket. Days later, her corpse was found close to the Virginia state line.

Law enforcement officials familiar with the investigation said Eisenhauer and Nicole had sexual contact before her disappearance, and that the college hero had lured Nicole from her home to kill her. Under Virginia law, if a person 18 or older is guilty of having sex with a 13-year-old minor, they face a prison term of two to 10 years, and a fine up to $100,000. Lt. Mike Albert of the Blacksburg Police Department said that he believed Haynie would have responded to Kari's charges, and would "have acted on it through the appropriate channels." He added that Haynie had no information on Nicole when the girl first went missing.
