Valerie Harper shocked journalists when she joined producer Allan Burns at the 32nd annual Television Critics Association Awards — but it was no surprise to readers of The National ENQUIRER. Reporters had the scoop on Valerie's miraculous comeback at the start of the summer. Valerie gave credit to actress Carol Kane for helping her battle back from a terminal brain cancer diagnosis three years ago.

Valerie, 76, said the 64-year-old “Taxi” star (seen here with Valerie in July) has been an important ally in keeping her positive: “I listened to her, and she talked about having a good mental attitude,” she said. Valerie was just as outspoken during an appearance in Texas, declaring: “Listen, I was supposed to be dead in three months — maybe six — because of the kind of cancer I had!”

Valerie also said that she's beating the odds with the help of her beloved husband and chief caretaker, Tony Cacciotti. It's a dramatic return for the "Rhoda" star after her devastating summer of 2015 — when The ENQUIRER covered her breakdown while in Maine to perform in a play.

"I was doing fine, learning my lines," said Valiere. "I was having trouble repeating the lines. Finally, long story short, I collapsed, pretty much!” The actress explained a complication with her cancer treatment caused a “blockage” that was preventing her medication from working properly. She credited her doctors, and Tony, for helping her rebound.
