Val Kilmer’s voice may still be a wreck, but the trouble-plagued actor was beaming while stepping out for lunch with his daughter Mercedes! It was a dramatic comeback even as Paramount Studios announced that the star’s big comeback in a “Top Gun” sequel with Tom Cruise had been pushed back a full year to a Summer 2020 release. The smiling star’s appearance made it clear that any problems weren’t related to the ailing actor’s health — and insiders are even speculating that Val may finally get to make a new movie where his creaking voice won’t be dubbed in by another actor!

"Val got lucky when his movie 'The Snowman' bombed last year," said an insider. "There were a lot of problems with the film, including the lousy job trying to cover up that he wasn't really saying his lines."
Val's even revealed on a video that his voice has been ravaged by a cancer battle, and apologized to an audience in July for sounding like he had "a Buick in my throat!"
