Tina Turner is ready to be the toast of Broadway as she brings her musical autobiography to Great White Way — but first, the diva had to give up her obsession with reincarnation! “Tina: The Musical” has gotten rave reviews on the London stage since opening in April, and the ailing legend is now determined to see her story competing with Broadway musicals about Cher and Donna Summer. Insiders, however, said the musical took over a decade to come together because Tina insisted on telling two tales. The original script, then called “Simply the Best,” didn’t just have the pop star escaping abusive husband Ike Turner. "It began like a regular showbiz story," said a Broadway insider, "with Tina growing up and becoming a star. But then the action shifted to 1458 B.C., where Queen Hatshepsut has to stop her stepson from taking over the throne. And if that wasn't weird enough, the stepson was Ike before he was reincarnated!"

To make things even more confusing, the musical then switched back to Tina being abused by Ike — with Queen Hatshepsut now a guardian angel using magic to overpower Tina's evil husband!

"The producers held some quiet stagings of the show for potential investors," added the insider, "but everybody had the same response: 'Get rid of Queen Hatshepsut!'" Instead, Tina — who once said, "It's my biggest wish to find my own mummy" — turned her back on the project.

"Then all these musicals with modern songs became hits," said the insider, "and Tina wanted to be part of it. That's how 'Tina' finally made it to the stage, and it looks like
she's set to give Cher some real competition!"
