Samantha Geimer came to Los Angeles Superior Court on June 9 to back up Polanski's claims that he should be spared the prison sentence that had him sneaking out of the country in 1978. Samantha joined Polanski's attorneys in asking for the charges to be dropped. Polanski has said that he was forced to sneak into Europe when it became clear that a judge wouldn't cooperate with a plea bargain for drugging and raping Samantha at Jack Nicholson's home in 1977.

While Samantha has said that similar sexual assaults are "common" in Hollywood, she's still declared that Polanski should be forgiven. “This is a case of the LA Court System being corrupt and celebrity obsessed, using a rape victim to further their ambitions and careers,” she said. “They have covered up the misconduct in this case for 40 years, and show no signs of allowing the ugly truth about it to see the light of day. Justice was served, Roman did his time.”

In a strange twist, Samantha still insists the sex wasn't consensual, while Polanski insisted in his autobiography that she was a willing conquest — and that Samantha "wasn't unresponsive" during the sex act. Samantha isn't shy about blasting Hollywood bigwigs for trying to ruin her reputation at the time, either: “In 1977, my mother and I were the villains, now it’s him!”

But, insisted Samantha, “I forgave him long ago. Neither of us wanted what we went through.” Polanski went on to direct films starring international superstars like Harrison Ford and Johnny Depp. His first wife, Sharon Tate, was murdered by Charles Manson's depraved disciples in 1969. He's been married to French actress Emmanuelle Seigner since 1989. Polanski also won the Oscar for Best Director in 2002 for "The Pianist." Samantha declared at the courthouse: “I want to resolve the case in a fair manner.”
