Portia De Rossi Anorexia Fears — As She Flies Off With Proud Ellen DeGeneres!

The National ENQUIRER caught Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi flying out of Los Angeles — as the talk show host's wife covered up her shockingly skinny frame! Eyewitnesses were still shocked as Portia's grinning face showed off her extreme weight loss. Ellen was beaming, too, even as friends fear that Portia's on the verge of a life-threatening anorexia relapse!

“She looks like she weighs under 100 pounds,” said medical weight loss specialist Dr. Sue Decotiis as she reviewed recent photos. The doctor hasn't treated Portia — but believes her obvious weight drop presents a serious health threat. “She’s likely down to 93 pounds … or less,” said another source.

Alarmingly, Portia (seen here showing her ribs this past May) has a well-documented history of anorexia. At one time, the 5-foot-6 star weighed a healthy 127 pounds. In the late ’90s, she admitted to dropping to 82 pounds and was on a starvation diet of only about 300 calories a day! “I got totally caught up in the Hollywood paranoia about weight — it became a real obsession,” she said at the time.

“We’re concerned that she may be backsliding into anorexia and bulimia — which could put her in an early grave,” a close pal confided. But Ellen doesn't seem to be worried — despite the "Finding Dory" star having complained about women's body images in the past!

"The way that magazines airbrush everything," Ellen said, "women are looking at bodies like that going, 'My stomach doesn't look like that. I'm supposed to look like that?' So they starve themselves and they work out like crazy."

Portia has even credited Ellen, who she married in 2008, for helping her overcome her early body image problems. “Ellen saw a glimpse of my inner being from underneath the flesh and bone, reached in and pulled me out,” she wrote in her memoir, “Unbearable Lightness: A Story of Loss and Gain.”

Dr. Stuart Fischer, a New York internist who has not treated Portia, agreed with the concerns of insiders. “Medical emergencies due to anorexia and bulimia are potentially more life-threatening than those due to obesity,” he explained. “Forced vomiting and excessive use of laxatives or ‘water pills’ can cause electrolyte imbalances that may literally be heart-stopping!”

Dr. Fischer also warns that Portia's drastic weight loss points to trouble at home! “Relationship issues are at the top of relapse triggers,” warned Dr. Fischer. “They can jeopardize both her health and her relationship.”
